Miracles, Miracles.

Kaela is doing wonderful! Praise the Lord there are so many good things to report. She has only had 3 bradycardia/apnea spells in the last 4 days. The Dr. switched her O2 to a different flowmeter that measures in cc's and allows the nurse to make more mintue adjustments in her oxygen flow rate and will be easier to wean her off of. She is only on 25 cc of oxygen now (when she leaves her nasal cannula in. She kept pulling it out today while I was there and was still satting at 97% on room air). They removed her umbilical line yesterday, and PTL, did not have to start even a peripheral IV because she is up to her full feeding of 24mL of 24 calorie fortified breastmilk every 3 hours!!!!! (This means they take my breast milk and add some fortifier to it to make it higher calorie to help her gain some weight.) Even the nurses there yesterday were amazed with how well she was doing for her size on barely any O2, and no IV access and full feeding! Her biliruben had started to climb the last two days after they stopped the lights, but it was headed back down again this morning. They did another head ultrasound last night, and her bleed looks better. The doctor showed me the pictures today, and pointed out where there MAY be a little blood left, but it was hard to tell if it was from a bleed or just some prominent blood vessels. He said what's there now can be considered a no bleed in terms of long-term side effects. So THANK YOU for all your prayers - God is answering every one of them and taking care of our precious baby girl.

Here are some pictures from our visit with Kaela last night:

Daddy praying for his baby girl.

Sucking on her papi. She had it grasped between both hands and was just sucking away. It was so adorable!

Little Kaela all snuggled up in her bed, sucking on her papi. She was getting her meal through her tube, and whenever we can we like to put the pacifier in her mouth during these times, sometimes with a drop of milk on the tip, to help her practice sucking. I can't believe how well she does with this already.

Kaela's food pump - locked and loaded with 23mL of breast milk! Mommy watches in amazement at her baby girl.

Our beloved, sweetheart.

When Anna Leigh and I went in to see her this morning, Kaela was all snuggled up in her little bed, sound asleep on her tummy. She looked so peaceful and beautiful...I've decided I gave birth to an angel! =)

We found a ruler in the drawer under her bed, and had fun taking some pictures to try to give you all a better idea of how small she is. So pull out your ruler, and then go through the pictures below and smile in awe at God's amazing grace!

4 inches from top of forehead to most prominent part of the back of her head.

2 inches from eyebrows to bottom of chin - tiny little face.

So tiny that she can completely hide her face behind her pacifier.

1/2 inch nose.

1 inch long ear.

It almost fits inside Mommy's wedding ring.

2 inch long feet - long and narrow.

A little less than 5 inches from the outside of one shoulder to the other...of course, she's got them hunched forward and her back sticking out a little while she's lying on her tummy, so it's probably a little less than that even.

Again, thank you for being a part of our miralces by lifting Kaela Ruth up in prayer. We're trusting the Lord that He continues to care for her and shower her with His love.

Blessed by His Healing Power,

Andy, Rachel, Christopher and Kaela
