Our sweet Kaela Ruth is 6 weeks old, and she's doing very well. She's 4lb. 4oz. and looks beautiful!
The doctor actually said the word "home" for the first time today! He said "Well...we're waiting on those labs to be negative twice and get rid of the c-diff. And her feeds...really her feeds. She needs to take everything by mouth and then she'll do the crib and car seat challenge and hopefully she can go home soon." It was exciting to hear him mention home - we're so ready to have her in our arms all the time and be done with hospital visits where we have to leave her there when we leave.
We started bottle feeding Kaela on Friday - at first we're just offering her a bottle every other feeding time if she's awake. So far she's done wonderfully with that - yesterday she ate all 37mL from a bottle each time we offered it to her. PTL! Now she needs to build up some endurance so she can take a bottle during the other 4 feeding times too. We're allowed to offer her the bottle at every feed now and see how she does...so pray she chugs it all down and keeps gaining weight! We're guessing we have 1-2 weeks left, and trying not to get our hopes too high! =)
