TWO NEGATIVES! PTL!

Gi-Gi visiting Kaela in the NICU - she finally got to hold her first great-granddaughter.

There was a "back-up" of labs at the hospital due to them running out of the reagent needed to test for c-diff...so by the time they restocked, the NICU had sent two stool samples from Kaela down to be tested. Yesterday, at 2 pm, they both came back negative! PTL!!!!! The nurses immediately moved Kaela from her isollette into an open crib and out of contact isolation...no more blue gowns! Yeah! She looks adorable all bundled up, with no tubes, and in an open crib - we can pick her up whenever we want...and actually feel her skin again instead of rubber gloves. AND!...Kaela just has to prove she can maintain her body temperature while she continues eating and gaining weight...then we're headed home! SO EXCITING! The nurses said the crib test is for 24 hours - I think the Doctor might keep her a little longer than that just to be safe...which if fine...because we can wait DAYS vs. weeks and months! Yesterday was day 50 in her NICU stay - the day that Christopher came home. He was 4lb 12oz. She is currently 4lb. 11oz. and hopefully headed home soon!

Our beautiful girl.

All three of us went to visit Kaela last night. Christopher climbed all over the chairs, stopping once or twice to look at his sister and gently touch her face or kiss her head (SO CUTE!). We took clothes, hats and blankets in to bundle her up and help her stay warm so she can pass this test and come home. Christopher is also excited and keeps talking about Kaea come home and Chrisopher big boy room and Kaea crib. Kaea all better. Kaea home. We'll see how he does when she's actually here!

Christopher "helping" Mommy feed Kaela her bottle.

Daddy feeding Kaela the second half of her bottle.

Stay-tuned for more information as we "patiently" await a discharge date and time. Please pray everything continues to go well and she passes her crib challenge - 0h - and her carseat test. She has to sit in a carseat for an hour hooked up to a monitor and not have any trouble breathing or dropping her heart rate.

=) Happy Family! =)
