Trip to Fort Fun for Thanksgiving

We left Tuesday for Fort Wayne, and flew! We had two short flights - about 50min each on the plane - with a layover in Cincinnati. The first flight, we each had an empty seat beside us, so Christopher got his own seat. That was great! The second flight, poor Andy got stuck beside someone who was half in his seat as well and holding Christopher on his lap, so that flight was a little rougher for him. Kaela "enjoyed" her first flight by eating the whole time on both planes. She then slept most of the time on our layover, so she was easy to travel with. I was so thankful for the baby wrap, as it freed up my hands and kept her snug and warm and protected from curious people wanting to touch the baby.

Kaela on her first airplane, snuggled up against Mommy.

Christopher fastening his seatbelt for takeoff. He LOVED flying and was pretty excited about looking out the window at the cars, buildings, and then clouds.

Meg picked us up at the airport Tuesday evening. It was nice to leave Johnson City at 1 pm and arrive in Fort Wayne at 5:30 pm...a little nicer than a 10 hour turned xx? hour with the kids. We just hung out that night and had fun saying hello to everyone.

Wednesday was a lazy day. My grandparents drove up from Marion to meet Kaela Ruth and see Christopher...and maybe us...but I think just the grandbabbies! =)

Great-Grandpa Tolan, Kaela and Great-Grandma enjoy getting acquainted.

Kisses from Great-Grandpa.

The rest of Wednesday we hung out at the house, chasing Christopher and chatting with the fam.

Thursday was Thanksgiving at Dad's house. We went over around lunch time and just hung out for awhile. It was so nice to be able to relax for a few days and not feel quite so busy.

Aunt Jenny, Christopher, Auntie Meg and Kaela chilling on the couch - covered in blankets because as we all know...Dad's house is always cold! =) It actually felt nice to be a little chilly and get to wear sweaters and sweatshirts.

Deda and Kaela spending some quality time together doing "what Deda does best" (according to Deda) - sitting on the couch.

Dad cooked a delicious Thanksgiving meal for supper. It was fun to be with him and all the girls and catch up on "life." He told us some great news - the company that recently hired him decided that they needed him to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for 3 weeks! He left on Monday and won't be back until December 18th. Dad will be validating the book he just wrote on a communications shelter that was recently purchased by the Saudi government. Way cool.

Smiles for Mommy.

Friday we had a Didyk-Sobota family picture at the mall. I don't think the photographer liked us very much, or maybe she was just having a bad day, but we all had fun, especially for the last pose where we all grabbed several props and posed for a serious, very random, very funny family picture. Great tradition.

Saturday was Thanksgiving at Mom's house. A day full of delicious food, lots of lounging, and lots of laughing.

And here's the Gang: (from L to R)
Nichola and Zack, Megan, Tony Jr., Mom and Tony, Uncle Mark and Aunt Carrie, Allison and Jared, Stephanie and Josh, Kelly, Jenny, Andy, Christopher, Rachel and Kaela.

Naptime...snoozing with Papa.

Beautiful Kaela - all dolled up in her little dress.

Kaela trying out a sled that Aunt Jenny made in high school.

Auntie Meg - getting an early start on being the "favorite" Didyk aunt to Kaela...

...since she's already won that spot with Christopher. We all agreed it's because she's the only one willing to spend every waking minute of each day being "bossed" around by Christopher and doing anything and everything that he wants to do whenever he wants to do it. =) They had quite a bit of fun together.

Baking cookies - Christopher tried a bite out of each chunk of dough before putting it on the cookie sheet. So when the rest of the family went to eat a cookie and saw the cookies that looked like someone had gone through the whole batch and taken a bite out of each cookie - they had.

"Playing" Mario cart with Auntie Meg. I think he won, but we won't tell so Auntie Meg doesn't feel bad losing to a two year old. J/K.

Relaxing and visiting after thanksgiving dinner.

Friday late afternoon, a large number of us trekked out to the nearby Christmas tree farm to cut down a tree. Of course, Christopher was one of the ones to go and probably had the most fun of anyone. He was right in his element: outside with trees, sticks, mud and rocks! His favorite thing to do was hold Mommy and Auntie Meg's hand and JUMP over the Christmas trees. It started with little ones less than a foot tall...and ended with Christopher "flying" over our heads as he leaped over a five foot tree! We had fun and he was giggling constantly.

When we went to decorate the tree, Christopher went wild with excitement. He truly didn't know how to contain/express his joy. As Megan worked to put the lights on the tree, he danced and jumped around the room...bouncing off the walls...shouting "Good job, Meg! Way to go, Meg! Nice lights, Meg!" It was hysterical. We were all laughing pretty hard, especially when he stopped in the middle of room, put his arms straight out from his sides in the air, and started twisting back and forth at the waist, flinging his arms from side to side and cheering for Megan. I asked what he was doing and he replied "Helicopter dance, Mommy!" ]He was so enthralled with the "beautiful lights," especially when some of them dimmed off and on. He sat there looking at them, saying "Where lights go? Turn lights on, please. Here they come. There lights! Oohh!" Talk about entertainment for the evening.

It was a great visit, enjoyed by all. We flew home on Sunday, Christopher slept part of the way on both flights and Kaela ate again both times, so it was a fairly easy trip home. Babu, Sho Sho and Aunt Anna picked us up at the airport, and Christopher began telling his "stories."

A happy holiday!
